\"\"Business owners and managers spend a large percentage of their day replying to emails. Many of these emails often require a similar response. While it\u2019s good business to personally respond to each email, that takes time. If you use Gmail, you have the option to put Canned Responses into your response, a real time saving feature. <\/span><\/p>\n

Canned Responses are a form of template that you can use to quickly reply to common emails. This feature is useful if you find yourself short of time and having to give the same reply numerous times e.g., inquiries about service hours.<\/p>\n

How to set up Canned Responses in Gmail<\/strong>
\nTo set up Canned Responses:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Open Gmail<\/a> in your browser and click on the\u00a0Gear<\/em> image beside your picture in the black bar at the top of the window.<\/li>\n
  2. Select\u00a0Labs<\/em>. If you don\u2019t see\u00a0Labs<\/em>, select\u00a0Mail Settings<\/em> followed by\u00a0Labs<\/em>, located in the white bar at the top of the window that opens.<\/li>\n
  3. Scroll down to\u00a0Canned Responses<\/em> and select\u00a0Enable<\/em>. Navigate to the bottom of the page and select\u00a0Save Changes<\/em>. The page will refresh, and\u00a0Canned Responses <\/em>will be enabled.<\/li>\n
  4. Click\u00a0Compose<\/em> and enter a response in the text-body of the email. Don\u2019t hit send.<\/li>\n
  5. Locate\u00a0Canned Responses<\/em> below the\u00a0Subject<\/em> line. Select\u00a0New Canned Response<\/em> from the menu that drops down. Enter a name for the response.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To use the response you\u2019ve just set up, click on\u00a0Canned Responses <\/em>and select the response from the dropdown menu. Note: pick the response from under\u00a0Insert<\/em>(in grey). To edit a response, simply follow steps four and five above, instead of selecting\u00a0New canned response<\/em>, select the name of the response you\u2019d like to edit from the\u00a0Save<\/em> sub-header.<\/p>\n

    If you spend a lot of time answering the same email and would like to save a bit of time, Canned Responses are a good idea. Just be sure to be judicious in their use, if the email is in response to a serious situation, best not to use one.
