Microsoft has attained this percentage in the word processing market with its many versions of <a title=\"Office 365 offers some great benefits\" href=\"http:\/\/convergedsystems.com\/blog\/office-365-offers-some-great-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft Office<\/a>. The word processor, commonly referred to as Word, is used by nearly all involved in business. To make things more efficient, Microsoft has included a number of keyboard shortcuts.<\/p>\n<p>Here are 20 handy keyboard shortcuts for Word that can help improve your productivity, or make navigating easier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General<\/strong><br \/>\nThese shortcuts will do the same thing in all Microsoft programs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + P:<\/strong> prints the document, spreadsheet or presentation. If you have more than one window open, the item you\u2019re currently looking at will be printed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + W:<\/strong> closes the window you have open.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + O:<\/strong> brings up the Open document window.<\/li>\n<li><strong>F12:<\/strong> opens the Save As window.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + S:<\/strong> will save the document.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + C:<\/strong> copies what you\u2019ve selected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + X:<\/strong> cuts what you\u2019ve selected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + V:<\/strong> pastes what you\u2019ve copied or cut.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + A:<\/strong> selects everything.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Word specific<\/strong><br \/>\nThese shortcuts can be used in nearly any version of Word. Note: Ctrl may be Control on some keyboards.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + F:<\/strong> will allow you to search the document for a word or sentence. If you press Replace in the window that opens, you\u2019ll be able to find and replace words.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + Up arrow:<\/strong> moves up one paragraph from where the cursor &#8211; black, blinking line &#8211; is.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + Down arrow:<\/strong> moves down one paragraph from where the cursor is.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + Page Up:<\/strong> switches to the top of the previous page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + Page Down:<\/strong> switches to the top of the next page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + Shift + E:<\/strong> turns on track changes which will show any changes made to the document, convenient for editing. Pressing it again will turn track changes off.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + Shift + C:<\/strong> will copy the format of the selected text.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl + Shift + V: pastes the previously copied format. Note: you need to select text to apply the copied format to.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ctrl + B\/I\/U:<\/strong> applies bold, italic or underlined formatting to selected text. If no text is selected, the respective formatting will be enabled.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tab:<\/strong> will move to the next selection. If you have a list with numbers or bullets, pressing <em>Tab<\/em> will indent the number or bullet in once, and change it to a subheading under the previous point. i.e., 2. will be indented and changed to <strong>a.<\/strong> as a subheading under 1.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shift + Tab:<\/strong> moves back, or moves one indent back (to the right). For lists, this will move the point up the hierarchy i.e., <strong>a.<\/strong> will be moved back to 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are some of the most useful keyboard shortcuts for Word.
